Frequently Asked Questions

  • I help individuals and businesses with IRS and state tax issues, including back taxes, payment plans, penalty relief, IRS audits, and unfiled returns. I also provide tax preparation and filing, ongoing compliance support, and options for year-round help so you can stay in good standing. Services are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Mandarin, with accommodations for other languages when possible.

  • Yes. As an Enrolled Agent, I’m licensed at the federal level, which means I can represent taxpayers before the IRS in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

  • The first step is an Initial Case Review. I’ll review your situation, any IRS or state notices, and your goals, then outline realistic next steps such as a Diagnostic Review, Tax Preparation & Filing, or a Compliance & Filing plan.

I’m bound by IRS professional standards to act with integrity and give advice that is in your best interest. That means I will never try to upsell you into services you don’t need. If a simpler or lower-cost option is appropriate, that is what I will recommend.

After you book an Initial Case Review with me, you’ll receive an invitation to create your client portal account, where you can upload documents and communicate with me directly. This keeps your information protected and helps us move forward efficiently.

  • Formal representation begins after you:

    1. Complete an Initial Case Review,

    2. Sign an engagement agreement,

    3. Complete requested intake and documentation, and

    4. Sign Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, for the relevant tax years and issues.

  • Yes. In addition to tax resolution, I offer individual and business tax preparation and filing, as well as ongoing compliance support.

  • Yes. I understand that many clients seeking tax help can’t pay everything at once. For qualifying services, I offer structured payment plans so you can move forward without creating a new financial crisis.

Payment plans are handled through the secure client portal and usually include an upfront retainer and scheduled monthly payments. All fees, payment amounts, and timelines are clearly explained in writing before you commit to any service.

  • I understand that not everyone is in a position to pay for professional tax services. As a general rule, I’m not able to offer large discounts or free services, but I don’t want you to go without help.

If your income is below a certain level, you may qualify for free or low-cost tax help through:

IRS-supported Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs

Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITCs) for certain IRS problems and disputes

These programs are designed for low-income and limited English proficiency (LEP) taxpayers.

If you’re not sure what you qualify for, you’re welcome to contact me and I’ll gladly point you to the right program and tell you what to bring to your appointment.

My goal is for you to get safe, trustworthy help, whether that’s with me or through a free program.

  • Many taxpayers who need help the most feel shut out of the system because they’re not fully comfortable in English. Important tax terms, IRS notices, and deadlines can be confusing even for native speakers. Misunderstandings are even more likely when English is a second or third language.

The IRS already offers some forms and assistance in different languages. I take it a step further by providing language accommodations wherever possible, so you can receive fair, transparent access to my tax services on equal terms with native English speakers. Whenever possible, I provide intake forms, appointment details, confirmations, and written guidance in your primary language. Some information may still be in English, and in those cases you’re always welcome to ask me for clarification.

  • I use a secure client portal for all sensitive information, documents, and payments. I do not use regular email or text for Social Security numbers, tax documents, or other confidential details.

I follow IRS and professional standards for safeguarding taxpayer data, including secure storage, limited access, and clear procedures for how your information is handled.

  • Generally, tax professionals are honest and hard-working. However, there are people who present themselves as ethical tax professionals who ultimately take advantage of people, especially taxpayers with limited English, taxpayers stressed out about tax debt, or taxpayers looking to maximize their return.

Warning signs to look out for:

Basing their fee on the size of your refund or promising “the biggest refund guaranteed.”

Taking more money out of your refund than you agreed to, or not explaining all fees clearly up front.

Having your refund sent to their bank account instead of yours, or asking you to sign documents you don’t understand.

    Refusing to sign your return.

Asking you to sign a blank or mostly blank return.

Inflating income, credits, or deductions to increase your refund or reduce your balance due.

Even if someone else prepares your return, you are ultimately responsible for everything that’s on it. Deceptive preparers know this and count on you not checking the details before signing.

    To protect yourself:

When in doubt, choose a credentialed tax professional. Enrolled Agents (EAs), Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), and tax attorneys are held to high ethical and continuing education standards. Our licenses and reputations can be at risk if we don’t follow the rules.

Always review your entire return before you sign. The IRS and Tax Court will hold you accountable for anything you sign, except in very rare cases.

Make sure any money refunded to you is routed to your account or address, not the preparer’s.

Get a clear written explanation of the fee and a copy of your return for your records.

Do your own research on typical tax preparation and tax resolution fees so you feel confident that the price you pay a tax professional is fair.

Being informed makes it easier to choose a tax professional you feel comfortable with.
